How I get through a bad face day
KEEP NAILS TRIMMED
So this one isn’t psychological, but if you’re having a bad face day acne wise, you’re likely to pick. If you can’t resist the temptation, you’re less likely to break skin or do damage if your nails are trimmed and you have toilet paper wrapped around your fingers. If you’re one of those elite people that doesn’t get the urge to pick, ignore this and move along.
ACCESSORIZE GURLLLL
glasses, hats, hair wraps, headbands, statement necklace, bright red shirt, etc. if you are really feeling insecure, just draw the attention elsewhere if you need. Sometimes we have to make up for things with a little bit of work and that’s ok. My go to is a chic pair of sunglasses that covers half of my face along with a baseball cap. And if you’re worrying about boyz, this will work. Do they even notice us anyways? Just being real lol. I put a little bit of effort into my outfit or accessories, and Josh doesn’t even notice the inflamed monstrous hormonal mountain of a zit on my chin...so winning.
SHORTEN THAT MIRROR TIME
Pick your battles. Staring the insecurity right in the face is just going to make you feel worse and helpless. It’s like a ticking clock, once you notice it, every time you look in the mirror it’ll be more noticeable. It’s s c i e n c e . So just save that mirror time for a day where you’re feeling a little more boujee.
KEEP THOSE PLANS
Something visible on your face is no reason to mope around. Don’t flake on your girl brunch, don’t flake on that date, get your tush up and run those errands. You rule your day! If you need to put a tiny bit of make up on, fine, but if you can go sans make up, bonus. Sometimes I purposely go to the grocery store on a bad face day with no make up on, then realize no one even cares or looks at me. I actually feel better after going out into the world. And if someone were to say something or give me a look, all they would get is a Beyoncé hair flip and a “boi byeeee”. The only person who can kill your vibe is you.
PSYCHOLOGICAL MAKE UP GLAM LOOK
Random confusing title but here’s the breakdown. If you MUST use make up, do your eyes first. I personally don’t use eyeliner or eyeshadow. But you can. Just start with some mascara and do those brows to get those pretty eyes poppin. If I have a bad face day I always have the urge to just go in with thick full coverage foundation and paint over everything. But don’t do that! Eyes first! Then if you still don’t feel ok, go in with some lipstick or gloss. Doesn’t have to be a crazy shade unless you want it to. Try to refrain from face make up; at the end of the day you’ll feel so accomplished that you glammed yourself up without dehydrating your skin and clogging your pores.
SPREAD LOVE
Compliment someone! You’ll feel better and happier, karma will work in your favor, and I don't know about you, but when someone gives me a compliment, I almost always return with a compliment. But make it genuine. Don’t just say something nice as a fishing expedition to boost your ego.. that’s a no no. But spreading love and positive vibes will help redirect your focus to that inner beauty when that outer beauty gets you down.
If you tried all this, don’t have plans, and are just at home feeling crumby, there is still hope! The answer is TLC. Just give yourself some tender love and care!!! Some ways you can do that that are skin related are: ice your face, face massage, face masque, or take an essential oils and epsom salt bath. Or if all else fails have a solo dance party in your undies. Love yourself!
